The #51Fiver – a return to triathlon?

16th May 202111th January 2022 Harriet

I didn’t make much of a secret of my lack enthusiasm for this race.  ‘Lack of enthusiasm’ is rather an understatement!  I’d been so unkeen and grumpy in the build up to it, particularly in the last week as the looming race meant that plans for long chatty rides weren’t made, I’d had to put […]

VO2 Max & Lactate Threshold Tests

7th November 20165th July 2018 Harriet Leave a comment

On Friday our head coach, Nathan, posted on the club facebook page to say that Oxford Brookes were looking for volunteers for VO2 max and lactate threshold testing.  Never one to miss an opportunity, I signed myself up for a slot on Saturday morning. I thought that not only would it be quite interesting to see […]

Cotwold Classic Middle Distance Triathlon

21st August 20165th July 2018 Harriet Leave a comment

Pre-Race Prep …was this time rather lacking!  We signed up for this race in a spate of optimistic race booking earlier in the year, believing that after Staffordshire we would somehow be super athletes and be top of our game by the time the distant end of August rolled by.  As it turned out, we’ve […]

Another Devonian sting in the tail – Roadford Lakes Triathlon

26th May 20165th July 2018 Harriet Leave a comment

I don’t seem to get on very well with events in Devon. I think this is partly because Dan always massively undersells the hills and partly because I am not very good at those ongoing huge hills that Devon specialises in!  On reflection, this weekend’s triathlon didn’t go badly, but the run left me feeling […]

My first BaRTT – lessons learnt

20th May 20165th July 2018 Harriet Leave a comment

Earlier this week I did my first BaRTT (Bike and Run Time Trial) with OxfordTri. This consisted of 1 lap of a mile long run course, 3 laps of a 4ish mile bike, then 3 more laps of the run. It didn’t all go quite as planned but was a great learning experience and the […]

Can I run a half marathon after a 56 mile bike ride?

11th May 20166th July 2018 Harriet 1 Comment

With race day just over a month away, that was the big question we set out to answer today.  We’ve been asking each other the ‘Do you think you could run a half marathon now’ question every time we’ve got to 56 miles on the bike recently as the race looms over closer, and there’s […]

Loving all the blossom everywhere at the moment! 😍 A wet, grey start to the day today, but the blossom was out and looking pretty and we spotted our favourite robin, coots, cormorants and the crested grebe again this morning too! Thanks for these lovely winter (and now spring) mornings of swim chat @sarah.spruytenburg.ss !

Beautiful day for a walk in the Cotswolds with @mw Beautiful day for a walk in the Cotswolds with @mwwise! 21kms taking in the countryside in the autumn sunshine, looking at the roll wright stones and making friends with a very tame squirrel. Just wish we’d worn shorts instead of trousers as it was so warm!
