A few years ago, I think after my first two marathons, or perhaps just after the first, I heard someone being interviewed on Radio 4 about running a marathon alphabet and thought that it was my kind of challenge, particularly as my first was Abingdon, and my second was Brighton. I’m not seeing it as a ‘get it done in a few years’ challenge, but rather as a longer term goal to eventually run a marathon for each letter of the alphabet.
Since Abingdon in 2017, and Brighton in spring 2018, I have run two more – a marathon at the end of IRONMAN Zurich in July 2019 and then a last minute Loch Ness Marathon in October 2019.
The Covid-19 pandemic lead to a bit of a training and competition hiatus for me, but since the end of 2021 I am back in training again ready for Edinburgh in May 2022 with the hope of earning a ‘good for age’ place for London 2023. Another L I know, but London is the dreamed of ‘the one day I will run a marathon’ event and I would love to do it. (or at least I think I would, I am enjoying the training so far, but let’s see how Edinburgh goes!).
As I go along I will update this page with races along my A-Z marathon journey.
